Why I chose to do sibling co-sleeping.
Looking to find out weather or not to do sibling co-sleeping? Yeah, I had the thinking process as well. It didn’t take me long to decide to just go with it. I co-sleep with all my kids and have found that it has been very beneficial. Yes there are cons but the pros outweigh them. Here is some of my reasoning.
Did you co-sleep?
I decided to co-sleep with my kids. This made it difficult when I tried to transition them into their own beds because they were in the habit of feeling a person next to them. Because of this I decided to wait a bit longer so that when second child was at a good age, I could move them both from my bed to theirs.
I think it was so much easier to move my kids into there own room when I did this with two of them! They were in it together and it helped them so much! They no longer were scared and they encouraged each other to stay in bed (… and get out of bed.) But it was always in a pair. This made it easier and less worrisome for me because they had each other. I plan on pairing my next two children as well when I am ready for them to move into their own room.
What bed to use?
I started with a bunk bed. Two kids to beds right? Ugh. this made it tough. I didn’t like the idea that my 3 year old tended to roll and i was scared he would roll off the top bunk and it was too high to climb for my 2 year old. I decided to put them both on the bottom bunk. This created a couple problems.
1- I ended up using the top bunk as a “catch all” for my junk. This made the room look awful and crowded.
2- The bottom bed was too small for both kids, they would just kick each other and cry that they were squished, but when I tried to move them to two different beds they cried that they wanted to sleep with the other.
A queen bed was a fit!
I wanted to upgrade to a king bed so I gave my queen size to my kids. I turned it sideways against the wall because they aren’t very tall and it saved on bedroom space. This also solved all my problems with having two beds for my kids. I loved it.
Yes! I have decided that this works best for my little ones. If you are having a struggle moving kids into their own bedroom, or deciding weather or not to have them in the same bed give this method a try:D
