Why I shop for Christmas in June!
Lets dive right in. If you want financial freedom this Christmas, you might love this tip…Shopping in for Christmas in June. Yes, I am talking about holiday shopping in this hot month of summer.
I know, I know, I am crazy right? But I do have a purpose. And A miraculous tip you will soak up.
I am a firm believer in keeping 95% of Christmas related things out of sight and mind until after Thanksgiving. I say 95% because I love Christmas music once the weather gets cold, and Christmas music is probably a good 5%:)

A mothers Advice To a Mother.
I think it’?’s safe to say that when the holidays roll around most, ( if not all ) parents struggle with completing the Christmas to-do list. This comes with the huge task of buying gifts for those you love, and lets face it, your tight on cash right? Especially around the holidays? That’s what I thought. You see my mother had a total of fourteen children. This is a crazy huge number! And somehow she was able to always provide us with an amazing Christmas morning filled with lots of gifts and goodies. I got to wondering how my parents made holidays possible, even with my dad working construction. Work for him was little to none during bad holiday weather.
So I decided to ask her once and get her secret to a great Christmas. It was so much more simple than I imagined.
A mothers secret to a successful holiday.
“Start your Christmas chopping in June or earlier,” she said.
WHAT? ugh that sounds awful! Who wants to shop for the holidays in June right? It has worked wonders for her. She has a designated spot in her house for gifts she might come across on a clearance deal, or see online, or her personal favorite…yard sales.
Put it to the test.
I did try this a little last year. It saved me so much stress when it came to money, because by the time Christmas came I already had a small stash of gifts ready. ( And so many prices rise right before Christmas)
I would highly recommend giving this a shot this year. Just try grabbing a few items every time you go out. If you have a small family, this could work great for you too I would imagine.
Tip: If your like me you probably forget where you put things, so put a calendar alarm on your phone, or a sticky note on your mirror as to where the gifts are stashed.
Make a Christmas list.
It makes it worlds easier to make a Christmas list now instead of later. Especially if you start with extended family and get those gifts done and out of the way. And how nice would it be to get the kids already marked off your list as well? WAY NICE! If you did that you could actually be able to enjoy your holiday season without the added stress.
To give you a hand up, and get your wheels turning with your gift list for your kids, I am going to leave you a link to the best toys you can get for any age group here. This post is full of great toys you can get for your children and mark off your list.
Here are a few more ideas you can snag and cross of your holiday list. Some of the extended family perhaps? 🙂
I think this plaque is super cute, and perfect for the grandparents. If it was me, I would add a picture of each of the grand kids from that year with it too. Of course you may not think this is enough. But it could be one less thing to have to get later on.
Your kids/extended family gift
You can never go wrong with board games. I think it would be fun to gather all these items and make a cute fun family gift basket. ( Maybe use a storage tote for the basket part and use it to store the board games?)
Throw in a few popcorn pouches and some licorice when the time gets close and BOOM your family gifts is marked off your list. This gift can be your gift to extended families as well. so hit a few birds with one stone sorta.
Once these or something else is off your list, you can already feel way ahead of the game. And have a little more breathing room in a few months. This idea may sound crazy to some. However, I remember having wonderful holidays because my mother made and effort to start shopping early and get the better deals in the summer.
I hope you give this small but wonderful tip a try this year. You will love that your holiday Christmas list will have most ( if not all) items marked off before the holidays even arrive.
Best of Luck, and Lots of Love,
