This blog is a fun and unique gender reveal that we enjoyed so much. You might find it useful if you have children but really, you can use this with adults too.
I am so excited to announce that we are having our fourth baby! All babies are so special and we wanted to do something fun for our gender reveal. After looking on many sites for gender reveal ideas, I didn’t like that many of them didn’t include the children as much. I come from a large family of children I wanted them to be involved, and have something a little more hands on for everyone. My husband and I also wanted to find a unique way that no one else has tried. I wish I could take full credit for this idea but I can’t.This amazing idea was my husbands and he was such an incredible person to help me throw it all together in a very small amount of time.
Preparing for our reveal
I bought blue and pink spray paint. And two 24-piece puzzles from the dollar store. My husband painted these for me and they dried in about 30 minutes. After they dried I wrote It’s a Boy on the blue one and It’s a Girl on the pink one with a large tip permanent marker. We also had an envelope with a question mark on the front (this is where we hid our last piece.) If you are short on cash you could always not buy anything and either use a puzzle you already have or just make one out of paper or cardboard. You can substitute the spray paint for pink and blue paper and glue it onto the pieces.
Our gender reveal idea process
Having a very inventive husband helps when coming up with different ideas. His idea was to try a sort of scavenger hunt for the kids, and to add a puzzle -or the way we did it two puzzles, one pink, one blue- that they would need to complete. We would give the kids a clue that would lead them to find a puzzle piece ( in our case we hid multiple puzzle pieces in one location so the game would go faster and our kids wouldn’t lose interest.) After running around to multiple spots around the yard and house to collect different puzzle pieces, the kids would return for another clue to lead to the next piece of our gender reveal puzzle.
These were our clues.
Taking out the same two pieces of each puzzle was a fun way to go about this because in the end, both puzzles would look the same with one piece missing. The last piece we put into an envelope with a question mark on it and hid it near by so we could experience all the reactions to our reveal.
Our unique and fun experience
Our ultrasound was pretty late in the day and it was about 5 pm when we finally got home. We made sure to feed the kids first – mommies all know how unfed kids act- so they were happier when we played our game. Our kids left the area while we hid the puzzle pieces. When family came over it did get loud and my husband suggested going outdoors into the back yard. I declined. However I wish I took him up on his offer because it did get really loud.
My wonderful husband read off each clue between kids finding their pieces. The older family members that didn’t want to run around so much had fun putting the puzzles together simply adding pieces when the kids brought them in. Our last piece was hidden in my husbands sock. This was such a fun place! Once the envelope was opened it had one single piece, a PINK one! Only the pink puzzle was completed. Yup we were having another beautiful girl. Our family addition will give us 2 boys and 2 girls, Perfect! A game like this was a great way to involve our kids and the adults. It was a bonus to know this gender reveal hadn’t been done in this way before. I loved and enjoyed it so much.
Like I said. Every baby is so special and this one will add a wonderful addition to this perfect life of mine. Although there were some hiccups to this (like noise) I am hoping this will be the gender reveal that will work well for another family. We had a blast throwing it together.
